Today’s New from Zamzam IDP camp
October 25, 2024
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It seems to me worth celebrating the remarkable achievement of Team Zamzam this Friday. Members created a communal “kitchen” and prepared an abundance of food—food we have been able to fund. Almost 4,000 people were fed today (October 25)—most of them children, many of whom had not eaten for days. Small supplementary food packs were also provided. This brings to approximately 8,000 the number of people fed this October.
Our project is now a model for similar, if much smaller, efforts in the camp (international humanitarian aid is still not able to reach Zamzam because of insecurity). This occasion required a tremendous amount of preparation, labor, distribution, and oversight by Team Zamzam. The photos below make clear just how successful they have been:
Deepest thanks to our supporters—from the people in these photos and from all the members of Team Zamzam.
Salaam,

NB: It is now possible to make a tax-deductible contribution to our project, using a portal on the website of a 501/c/3 organization operating in Sudan. Operation Broken Silence, working primarily on health and education issues in the Nuba Mountains of South Kordofan, has created a special site for tax-deductible contributions to our project, and we hope this makes contributing to the health and well-being of the people of Zamzam easier for donors.
Those wishing to assist in funding the work of Team Zamzam may also send a check directly to Eric (Eric Reeves, 31 Franklin St., Northampton, MA 01060).
