Celebratory food distribution of October 1, 2023, marking the beginning of the fourth year of our project in Zamzam IDP camp:

Complete rehabilitation of our project’s fifth well in Sector D of the camp was also part of the celebration. The seasonal rains have ended, even as Sudan has been one of the countries hit hardest by this summer’s unprecedented heat, a product of greenhouse emissions from the world’s largest and richest nations.

This rehabilitated well will be a critical resource in the months and years ahead. It was funded in memory of Thelma and Yusef Silber by their daughter Sharon Silber (obituaries for Yusef, a Holocaust survivor, and his and Thelma’s obituaries appear here.)
