The Cruel Humanitarian Embargo on South Kordofan and Blue Nile Continues

The most recent humanitarian update from the South Kordofan/Blue Nile Coordination Unit, August 2019

A critical task for Prime Minister Hamdok is to lift the humanitarian embargo that the al-Bashir regime placed on rebel-controlled areas of South Kordofan and Blue Nile—an embargo that remains in place after more than eight years of deprivation, suffering, and death.

As this report makes clear, the need is urgent: more than half a million people are severely or moderately food insecure. Humanitarian organizations are eager to reach these people, but the embargo must be lifted first.
