On the Brutal Murder of Ahmed al-Khair of Khashm al-Qirba, February 2, 2019
A thread of tweets, as well as a statement by “Forces Signatories to the Declaration for Freedom and Change, that do as much as anything to reveal the savagery and indiscriminate barbarism of the al-Bashir regime:
• [@SudanReeves] #Sudan: We must not forget that every person killed by the al-Bashir regime has a face, has a family, and was part of a community. It is not simply single individuals who are being murdered, but a part of Sudan as a whole… #SudanUprising
Sudanese Teacher Dies in Detention After Protests, Family Members Say | Reuters (Khartoum), February 2, 2019
A Sudanese school teacher [Ahmed al-Khair] died in detention after being arrested in connection with protests in the east of the country, members of his family said on Saturday. The 36-year-old man was arrested at his home on Thursday after protests in the town of Khashm al-Qirba, the family members said, adding that security officials had told them he died of poisoning. He had marks of being beaten on his body, the family said. The man’s funeral took place on Saturday.
Security officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
• [@SudanReeves] How brutal are the al-Bashir security forces? I can’t confirm the utterly ghastly details contained in this response to my tweet about the murder of a school teacher [Ahmed al-Khair] while in custody—but I am convinced they are accurate (“pm” = post mortem, or autopsy). #SudanUprising

Most media outlets are reporting this without details of the brutality involved. The pm found that a sharp object about half a meter in length was shoved up his backside, his sister who attended his pm said his skull looked fractured. Gov refuses to hand over post mortem report.

• [@SudanReeves] Further confirmation of the brutal savagery by which the incarcerated school teacher in eastern Sudan was murdered. This is unspeakable…and yet we know that it is happening every day, and will continue to happen until the al-Bashir regime is removed. #SudanUprising

Hello Eric, that is correct for PM. I can confirm his sister spoke to @AlArabiya reporter on the ground @khalidewais. She confirmed he had a bloodied torn anus suggesting sexual assault.

[A copy of the autopsy report appears at the end of this post]
• [@SudanReeves] Ahmed al-Khair is indeed a martyr, bearing witness in his death to the utter barbarism of the al-Bashir regime, and giving yet further legitimacy to the uprising. His name must be kept alive, to continue bearing witness… #SudanUprising
