In Sudan collapse of infrastructure investment leads to water shortages, related diseases; medical delivery collapsing from impoverishment

In Sudan a collapse in infrastructure investment has eads to massive shortages of clean water throughout the country, with water-borne diseases an inevitably consequence; at the same time, the medical delivery system is collapsing from lack of budgetary priority.  In Darfur, in addition to massive insecurity, violent displacement, and murder, there are other critical health and medical issues.  The medical consequences of rape are rarely discussed, but the can lead to acute emotional and mental trauma; severe injuries, including fistula; and all too often death.  Malnourished children—a shocking percentage of the those under five—are extremely vulnerable to disease and cold temperatures.
