There can be little doubt about the success of the civil disobedience strike of December 19, despite the mass arrests of human rights and civil society activists by the Khartoum yesterday and previously.  The streets of Khartoum and Omdurman are deserted, inactivity defines the day.  These are only a partial selection of the photographs that have come to me today from Sudanese following events closely; this “album” will expand as I receive more:
