Village destruction has been, by design, comprehensively destructive; the goal has been to destroy the livelihoods of the the non-Arab/African villagers.  Literally thousands of African villages have been destroyed, and most of the farmers displaced in the process remain displaced and have no chance to reclaim their lands.
