The Forgotten Crisis in Abyei

The Abyei region of what should be South Sudan was seized militarily by the Khartoum’s Sudan Armed Forces and militia allies in May 2011—an egregious violation of the CPA; three years later it appears Khartoum is prepared to wait for the current UN force to depart, and then officially annex Abyei.
